So yes, I’ve re-entered the world of dating for some time now (no need to sit on idle hands) and I thought that signing up for these online dating sites I’d find the perfect match (at least according to the commercials), seeing as how my life revolves around work, M:tG and sleep at the moment. It seemed like a perfect match- never having to leave the computer AND meet potential gaming partners!
Yeah- it never works out the way you planned…
Now the following is what I’ve found (though I haven’t given up hope)
1. I’m picky. I mean REALLY picky. Picky to the point of feeling shallow. Shallow like a toddler pool. Pool like the swimming kind- not the game with sticks. Sticks and stones can break my…oops…sorry- got off on a tangent. I feel really bad for not returning messages to “searching for Mr. right, but Mr. Right now will do” or ” Fun loving woman built for two, just right for you“, but I’m just not feeling it, sorry.
2. Women are even pickier- Who doesn’t like a total geek that acts like he’s 12, collects action figures and plays video games all day. Jeesh- Gurlz are th3 Dumzz. Seriously though, and it may be my ego talking, but I’m a catch! Maybe the photo of me in my darth vader costume IS a bit much, but that’s who I am.
3. All these sites want your life story. In all actuality, people seldom read the whole thing- I personally scan for spelling errors and search for key-words like “Star wars”, ”Magic: the Gathering”, “Sci-fi/Fantasy” and “Roleplay”. Any of those I will usually take the time and read the rest, though “roleplay” apparently doesn’t mean what it used to, so I’m thinking of striking that one off my list.
Gah!!! Never preview and then hit publish instead…Oh my naked, uncompleted blog!!!!
Anyway…
4. Do I pay or not? It seems the free sites let you actually talk to potential dates, so it seems like a waste of money to me, money better spent on said DATE. Call me wierd, but seems logical to me, and I’m not even Vulcan.
5. Women hardly ever message first- I thought this was the 21st century?!?!
6. There are too many sites to keep track of, but it seems like all the same people are on them. Granted, I’m IN this group, but still- can’t we all just pick ONE site and stick to it?
Oh.My.Goodness.
So I just, on a whim, decided to search google for “Single Geek Girls” and there is actually a site dedicated to geeks finding geeks. I feel a part 2 coming on…I’m off to peruse www.Sweetongeeks.com this should provide HOURS of blog material…*snicker*
Till text time! (share with your friends on Facebook and twitter, cause my mom told you to!)
